James "Jim" Eckerle Jr. Obituary

James Eckerle Jr., Devoted Family Man and Beloved Leader, Passes Away at 62

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Eckerle Jr. on November 7, 2024, at the age of 62. Known to close friends and family as Jim or Jimmy, he was a beacon of warmth, leadership, and integrity in his personal and professional life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Jim’s greatest love and priority was always his family. A man of deep faith and devotion, he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, finding his truest happiness at home surrounded by those he adored. Whether on their annual beach vacations, holiday traditions, at soccer practices, or during quiet evenings at home, Jim was fully present, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever. Known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, he brought joy and levity to every gathering, infusing everyday moments with a unique warmth and love that will be sorely missed.

To his wife of 34 years, Terri Eckerle, he was a devoted partner who shared a life of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. As a father, he was a source of strength and pride, guiding his children with wisdom, humor, and boundless love. He is survived by his beloved son, Collin Eckerle, his daughter-in-law Mindy Knochelman Eckerle, and granddaughter Marietta Eve Eckerle, who already brought so much joy to his life. He also leaves behind his cherished daughters, Anna and Ellie Eckerle. Jim’s family was the heart of his life; he was their steady foundation—a constant source of love, support, and companionship they could always rely on.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim was known for his keen mind, determination, and compassion. After earning his bachelor's in business from the University of Cincinnati, he built a remarkable career in financial planning. More than thirty years ago, he helped establish Pension Corporation of America (PCA), where he dedicated most of his career to building and guiding the firm to new heights. His visionary leadership and sincere dedication became cornerstones of the company, inspiring colleagues and clients alike with his expertise and genuine kindness.

In addition to his loving wife, children, and granddaughter, Jim is remembered by his brother, Bob Jordan (Cindy Jordan); his sister, Donna Walters (Ralph Walters); his sister, Diane Gray; and his many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Eckerle Sr., and his mother, Marietta Kreutzer Eckerle. Jim also leaves behind countless friends and colleagues whose lives he touched with his generosity and kindness. His legacy of excellence and his joy for life will live on in all fortunate to know him. He will forever be held close in our hearts and memories.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 20, from 5-8 pm at Drees Pavilion in Devou Park (790 Park Ln, Covington, KY 41011). Friends and family are invited to stop by at any time to remember and celebrate Jim, with drinks and light bites provided in his honor.

For those who wish to honor Jim’s memory, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice. Your generosity in his name will help support the compassionate care that meant so much to him and our family.
