Thomas "Tom" Edward Patterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully while visiting at his son's home on November 29, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on April 24, 1948, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Tom lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.

A devoted Christian and proud patriot, Tom was known for his jovial spirit and infectious sense of humor. He had an innate ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him, often being the life of the party with his jokes and funny stories. His love for adventure was evident in his passion for biking, golf, kayaking, and traveling. Tom was also an ardent supporter of Virginia Tech, Liberty University, and Stetson University, cheering their teams on with enthusiasm.

Tom graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he forged lifelong friendships and began his journey as a dedicated professional. He spent his career as an insurance agent, providing care and support to countless clients over the years. A man of strong faith, Tom was an active member of his Baptist church community, where he found fellowship and spiritual growth.

Family was the cornerstone of Tom's life. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife of 54 years, Sharon. Together, they built a loving family, raising their children, Shannon (Norbert) Del Valle and Neil (Sarah) Patterson, who brought immense pride and joy to their lives. Tom's legacy of love and laughter continues through his cherished grandchildren, Caroline and Micah Patterson, who adored their "Poppy."

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Patterson, and his brother, Kendall Patterson. He leaves behind a host of family and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Tom's life will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC, on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:45 AM. Please arrive at the cemetery gates at 11:30 AM.

As we say goodbye to our dear Tom, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
