Mogamat Arifie Manuel Obituary
Dr. Mogamat Arifie “Arif” Manuel passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, he leaves behind a legacy defined not by accolades or titles, but by the immeasurable impact he had on every life he touched.
Arif was a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, and the steady, grounding force at the heart of his family. Together with his beloved wife Hazel, he formed a formidable partnership rooted in love, respect, and unwavering support. Their example shaped their children, Jay and Bireen, into who they are today. Arif instilled in them a lesson he lived by every single day: that one’s worth is never determined by outside voices or circumstances, and that knowing who you are is one of life’s greatest strengths.
A prominent nephrologist and gifted teacher, Arif dedicated his career to compassionate care. He was loved and respected by his patients, colleagues, and coworkers. He saw the full humanity of every person he treated and met them with kindness, patience, and dignity. He helped found Lions Camp Dorset in Ontario, Canada, a haven where people who are dependent on dialysis can experience nature, community, and respite. Through his medical work, mentorship, and daily acts of quiet generosity, Arif transformed lives in ways that can never be fully measured.
Above all else, Arif loved his family. He was happiest in their company, proud beyond measure of his children, and utterly devoted to Hazel, who held his hand as he took his last breath. His presence will be deeply missed, but the values he lived—kindness, strength, humility, compassion—will continue in every life he shaped.
He is survived by his devoted wife Hazel, his children Jay, Alton, and Bireen, and his grandchildren Jude and River, along with all those who were privileged to know and love him. He will also be deeply missed by his sister Ruesdeya and by his nieces and nephews. His light will continue to guide them all.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Lions Camp Dorset.
