Michael Lee Chandler, age 79, of Kuttawa, Kentucky, passed away on July 14, 2026. Born on

February 5, 1947, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Melvin and Betty Chandler, Michael

lived a full and meaningful life defined by his devotion to family, his service to country, and

his generous spirit.

After graduating, Michael answered the call of duty and served honorably in the United

States Air Force. His sense of discipline and dedication carried him throughout his life,

including a long and successful career with the railroad, from which he proudly retired. Of

all his accomplishments, however, none meant more to him than his marriage to his

beloved wife, Gwen. The two shared 53 years together, a partnership built on love,

laughter, and unwavering commitment.

Michael was a man of big heart and strong will. Those who knew him would attest that he

was as caring and generous as he was stubborn and hard headed, a combination that

made him both deeply loved and utterly unforgettable. His sense of humor could fill a room,

and his warmth drew people to him effortlessly. He was happiest when he was outdoors,

whether hunting, fishing, or spending a day on the golf course. He was also a passionate

Kentucky Basketball fan whose loyalty to the Wildcats never wavered. Above all, Michael

cherished his family, and he took immense pride in his nine grandchildren, each of whom

held a special place in his heart.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Gwen Chandler; his son, Brian Chandler and wife

Beth; his daughter, Renee Hayden and husband Keith; his son, Mike Chandler Jr.; his

brother, Steve Chandler and wife Jan; his grandchildren, Logan Chandler and wife Yaneli,

Hunter Chandler, Landon Chandler, Heath Chandler, Austin Chandler, Eric Hayden and

wife Zephra Hayden and Abby Hayden and fiancé Hunter Severs; his nephew, Steve

(Sean) Chandler and wife Dollie; and his niece, Carly Meierstein and husband Cole, along

with numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his

parents, Melvin and Betty Chandler.

May Michael find peace in the arms of his Creator, reunited with those who went before

him. His love, his laughter, and his steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who

were blessed to know him.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Haulk officiating. The rendering of military honors will follow the service.
